The Awajún people, also known as Aguaruna, are an indigenous group situated in the Peruvian jungle,  along the Upper Marañon River.  Their name comes from the Quechua language and it means wild people, from awka (wild) and runa (person).

We are Andrea, Alessandro, Elena, Eleonora and Giulia, a group of students at the University of Turin, studying Latin American Anthropology. With this page we would like to give voice to the Awajún people and to the daily issues they are facing due to the pandemia COVID-19.
